Let me be honest...
Motherhood was SO hard in the very beginning. During my pregnancy I sunk into such a deep depression that at one point I asked my husband to take me to the hospital to be admitted for a mental breakdown for appeared to be one of a few manic episodes I have experienced. Soooo, that's how motherhood started for me. I felt like I was losing my mind, and my body. As someone who has struggled with clinical depression and a severe anxiety and panic disorder for most of my life I can tell you that motherhood felt like just another struggle.
While I did immediately adore my child, and there were of course moments of sweet bliss with her, during the first 6 months there were times I nearly wished I had never become a mother. I seriously cried all the time.
BUT, thanks be to God and my amazing husband, it did turn around! I sought out support from my church community, my friends, podcasts, blogs, books, my therapist, and my family, and I have been learning how to better manage my life by implementing SIMPLE tools to help me be BRAVE in my motherhood. I've found ways to create more space in my mind, and in my family-life for more joy than I could've imagined! Now I'm here to share with you ALL the tools, tips, and resources I've found along the way. Join me in creating lives we love as Brave New Mamas!
